It is important to have an educational background in order to achieve a career in electronics. There is a multitude of trade schools that give excellent educations for these types of careers. Interestingly, many people who come out of trade school end up making more money than those who go to college.
Due to the complexities of electronics, many careers require that an applicant have a college education. Many topics should be studied, most notably math and science. However, knowledge in the language and business fields is also helpful and sometimes necessary.
One can get an Associate’s degree with as low as two years of college, but a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree requires an average of four or six years, respectively. If one’s goal is to be an advanced electrical engineer, then they will need a Master’s or Doctorate degree. The more education you have, the more opportunities are available.
A career involving the manufacture of electronics or their design falls under the category of an electronics engineer. Engineers can find employment in a company that specializes in any type of electronics. An engineer may focus on improving the efficiency of current products, or develop new products.
For those who do not plan on going to college, the position of an electronics assembler is available. An assembler simply puts together parts, often on an assembly line. Training is provided on the job, and high school skills rarely come in to play.
To become an electronics technician, one must be proficient in repairing different kinds of electrical systems. This ranges from small appliances to supercomputers. More education is required, but salaries can go as high as seventy thousand dollars, and this will grow in the future.
It is hard to look in any one direction and not see something electronic unless you are looking at the sky (but even then, there are often airplanes). With the pervasiveness of electronics in our society, it’s no surprise that the electronics industry is one of the safest career choices around.
